Finally the last box has been packed and sealed. The whole team has been at it like madmen. At last the food for the stay in Patriot Hills, for the trip and for the return stay in Patriot, the equipment for the trip to the Pole, equipment for safety and for a reserve depot are all ready to go.
As we spoke to them last night, they were about to leave the warehouse they have been using outside Punta Arenas and go out for dinner. The first dinner where the team is complete. Rolf Seel and Roland arrived in the early evening, from opposite sides of the globe. Rolf from across the Atlantic, Roland from across the Pacific.
But the evening will be no party. They will head straight back to the hotel for a check of their personal equipment. – It sounds like its going to be a long night.
